Individual Therapy

Life is just not going how you want.

There is a sense of going through the motions.

Good days are inevitably followed by periods of anxiety, depression, and emptiness.

Motivation and energy are available one day and gone the next, making achieving your goals in life a faraway dream.

And the heaviness.

You carry the weight of your daily worries and the pain of past hurts in your body and heart.

Turning to work, social media, food, or other distractions lightens this heaviness, but only temporarily.

You wonder: Is there a way out of these cycles of ups and downs?

You are ready, desperate even, for change.

Barriers to the change you desire might come in many forms…

Anxiety about being vulnerable with a new person.

Fears you’ll get your hopes up and be disappointed.

Shame associated with painful experiences in your past.

Anxiety, fear, and shame are powerful emotions, but they are NOT the emotions you want dictating your decisions any longer.

Yes.

Some things feel harder to talk about than others.

It is absolutely OK to feel nervous about embarking on a new journey.

You realize if you don’t face your demons, they will control your life forever.

You just aren’t willing to let that happen.

Breaking through…

Individual therapy is the catalyst you need to break the cycle of anxiety, fear, and self-sabotage. I provide a combination of essential education about how the mind and body respond to adversity and stress, along with opportunities to explore your unique experiences safely. You will understand yourself in new and profound ways and will be equipped with proven strategies to restore calmness to your body and enhance self-acceptance and positive emotions in your daily life.

We are often wounded in relationships – with parents, partners, and society. We are sent messages that we are not enough, that love is conditional and must be earned, and others will hurt us. We move through life carrying these unprocessed hurts, attachment wounds, and crippling inadequacy. The result is an existence heavily driven by protective defense mechanisms – fight, flight, freeze, submit, and fawn – rather than authenticity and emotional safety.

But we heal through relationships, too.

The connection we will build together is sacred, and through that connection, you will feel safe to explore the deepest parts of yourself.
My commitment is to meet you where you are in your journey and create an environment where all parts of you feel welcomed, accepted, and cherished. By modeling this unconditional compassion to aspects of yourself you have previously shamed or rejected, you can begin the healing process of reclaiming them within yourself.

I am deeply respectful of your time and your investment in therapy.

I have developed an extremely effective map of skills and processes that systematically build on each other.

Even before your first session, you will be equipped with essential information to immediately begin liberating yourself from the core beliefs and negative feedback loops holding you back.

The way forward will be personalized for you and your unique needs by addressing the specific defense strategies and core beliefs derived from your lived experiences.

Take, for example, the flight response. One person’s flight response might look like never staying in a relationship longer than a few months. Another person’s flight response might look like a lifetime of abusing substances or alcohol: very different behaviors, but both reflective of a desire to protect oneself through avoidance and distancing.

Two individuals who survived childhood trauma may find themselves in adulthood with very different attachment styles. One person might avoid relationships despite a longing deep down for companionship. At the same time, the other survivor might always have a person waiting in the wings, so they never have to be alone.

Together, we will uncover your survivor strategies and underlying core beliefs and create opportunities to transform them into freer and lighter ways of existing in the world.
